Shyaonti received her initial taleem in the Indian classical dance form of Kathak from Guru Rekha Nadgauda, a disciple of Pandit Gopi Krishna of the Banaras Gharana. After securing her Nritya Vishaarad from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Meeraj, Shyaonti sought her advanced tutelage in the dance from Guru Vidya Hari Deshpande, a Kathak exponent who is a disciple of Pandita Rohini Bhate of the Jaipur Gharana and is mentored by Kathak Maestro Pandit Birju Maharaj and Tabla Guru Pandit Suresh Talwalkar.

Shyaonti ran her own dance academy called Nrityangana for several years. Some of the dance dramas she choreographed during this period were Dashavatar, Krishnaleela, and Rabindranath Tagore’s Chitrangada and Shapmochan.

Shyaonti was chosen by Rotary International as a cultural ambassador and classical dance performer to Brazil where she toured for a month giving talks, performances and presentations. She has also been one of the lead choreographers in the National Festival of Mauritius.
